The original German name meaning “lands along the border” , this small, though unique, enchanting area sees tourists return for a visit year after year. Gentle rolling hills and fertile valleys run East to West, from the sea to the mountains. Four-lane highways connect the seaboard and the A14 to the interior, thus making it possible to spend the day at the beach and the late afternoon under the shade of alpine forest trees.
